League average OPS is .707. Cowser is fine. -
Honestly, I don't like any of the options you have. I guess it depends on what you mean by 'faith'. I have faith he won't overspend to try to win this year at the expense of the future. Don't get me wrong, we do need to improve our pitching, but it depends on the cost and who we are getting. I highly doubt we trade any of the big 3, Holiday, Mayo or Basallo. I also don't expect us to trade Cowser, Kjerstad, Povich or McDermott. I expect he will do the best he can with those below what I just named, but it won't be a #1 or #2. I'm closest to the third option I guess, and I'm actually somewhat ok with that as I don't want to see the big 3 or Kjerstad moved. -

Everything that you say is well thought out/researched and logical. My only contention would be to point 5. That’s not all we lose. We lose out on the opportunity to win a championship this season. That’s a big deal. Because we may not have Burnes next season and if Fedde were to turn back into a pumpkin our rotation will be in very bad shape this year. Lastly, I don’t think all 3 of Holliday/Mayo/Basallo are necessary for us to win/seriously compete for a title. But I do believe having better pitching talent than we currently have is. -

I think Eflin v. Bassitt is an interesting compare-contrast if TOR-TBR deal 1.5 season guys, and the clubs get over their divisional angst. Will the Rays do better than a Cowser or Kjerstad if they move Eflin? I don't think Elias' guys a step down from them get them on a 1:1 basis.
