Yes. We went from the 24^th to the 22^nd because of luxury tax penalties on the Yankees and Padres, then we have the 32^nd pick for Gunnar Henderson winning the ROY Award, and the 34^th pick in the Competitive Balance A round.

I’m glad they didn’t have this when we were tanking. We got pretty lucky that 2020 was so short too. Took a lot of misery out of the tank.

Oakland this year. #4 pick for being the worst team in MLB. The Nats also caught a bad break picking #10.

So the Nationals’ number combinations were still able to be selected, but if they were, MLB would have a do-over.

The Nationals’ combo of 3-9-11-13 came up the first time MLB selected, so there was a do-over. The Guardians won that second drawing to land the first pick. Then the Nationals won again, so there had to be a second do-over. 

This happened last year as well. The Nationals won the No. 2 pick, but then also were selected when drawing for the fifth pick, which led to a do-over that gave the Twins a chance to win the fifth pick.

The Nationals haven’t had a winning record since they won the World Series in 2019. But when it comes to having their name called in the draft lottery, they reign supreme.

Glad the O's drew the right straws here, but still don't like the lottery system. Maybe make the top 5 worst teams draw straws for the first 5 picks and then go by record after that if you really care about tanking. 

None of this is really going to stop tanking though, since tanking is really about owners cutting costs rather than getting high draft picks.

They need to add the ability to trade picks other than the awarded comp picks.
