Ah, another year of second guessing the lineup every single day!

I don’t know why people keep lumping O’Hearn in on posts like this. The guy had one of the few over .800 OPS on the team last year. He’s not remotely the problem.

I heard that he was initially scheduled to be DH, but told Hyde, “if Burnes doesn’t want me to catch him, then I don’t wanna play!”  Then he was seen softly sobbing in a corner of the locker room.

I’d rather Santander in the OF. Also, no reason for Hays to play over Cowser and Kjerstad with a RHP.

Hyde’s probably just giving Hays a chance to keep up his momentum from yesterday, even though 2 of his 3 hits were vs. LHP.   Cowser’s done diddly lately.  As to Santander vs. O’Hearn in the OF, I prefer Anthony but Hyde probably just wants him off his feet for day.  O’Hearn has played much better in the OF this year than last year.

Dakota Hudson has been very good in the past. Is he possible help to us relief or starter?  He was 16-7 in 2019 for the Cardinals.  If he is still good, it is better than trading our farm for 1 pitcher!!!

The inconsistencies are incredible sometimes.

He's pretty upfront that the splits, reverse or not, are only one part of the equation.  Further, he directly addresses the Stowers/Kjerstad stats, and is pretty upfront: They don't really trust the MiL splits.

Well you can’t have ML splits without trying and you have at least some reason to try.

Its a weak and really dumb answer…especially when the alternatives aren’t that great anyway.

As we've seen with Cowser, they're willing to give guys more and more ABs based on performance, and that includes against same handed pitchers.

Nobody is just going to be handed an every day position- as you define it- coming out of the MiLs w the possible exception of Holliday, and we saw even that was not open-ended.

      I’m still so annoyed anytime Bradish and Means’ injuries get mentioned as a reason for needing SPs. We’ve known since before Spring Training those dudes weren’t making it a full season. The amount of advanced imaging and tests done on these players, they knew we couldn’t count on them this year and still didn’t bolster the rotation. I think Wells was a surprise and the ownership change may have interfered a bit but I just don’t want Bradish and Means being an excuse for why our rotation is so suddenly depleted.

      I'm also really getting on the "move Holliday to the OF train" lately. So many good-ish infielders have made very successful transitions to the outfield over the years. Craig Biggio, Alfonso Soriano, Alex Gordon, and Chipper Jones all come to mind, not that their stories matter to J-Ho's situation. But I want to get him and Mayo into the lineup ASAP. I'm okay to drop Urias at this point, I think, and Cowser probably needs to find his stroke again in Norfolk.  Unfortunately, I don't think there's much pitching relief in the organization. The injuries to Bradish, Wells, and Means have been pretty devastating. Cole Irvin turning into a pumpkin, while predictable, also hurts pretty badly. It's going to be hard to win this division with Burns, Grayson, and Jeckyl/Hyde as our top 3 starters. Plus, now it seems like we can no longer write off Boston.

      Yea that’s where I think it’s bs. That said, you never know how teams view the rest of our guys and you do wonder if the Os rep of drafting and developing makes our prospects “worth more”.

      I don't buy this. Not ANY starter, they couldn't get Crochet that way or if Skubal became available.

      I feel like this is the operative point. The O’s didn’t just put more into picking pitchers last year, they went pretty heavy with it. I feel like they understand what Tony is saying and have already started to adjust. I hope so. We have all been lamenting the fact that the Orioles have not spent high draft capital on pitching. I honestly wish they did so instead of drafting Bradfield last year. I also hope their top two pics this year are pitchers. From a roster management perspective, I think it will be easier to find solid players to round out our positional group then it will be to find good pitchers for our staff. I think we need to draft those.

      Not trying to pick on you, but what does the major league team's ERAs have to do with pitching development? How many Orioles pitchers were drafted and developed by the Orioles on their current staff? Zero. No one is holding anything against Fruit, just pointing out facts. Just like the fact that despite all his development, he's having a hard time getting High-A right-handed hitters out consistently. Now, maybe he'll continue to develop and maybe he'll end up guy, as Orioles fans, we sure hope so, but I think if you are going to tout a guy to show off your development system, maybe not pointing out a 24-year old in High-A ball who's stats or stuff really don't scream out, "Wow!" I've watched Fruit pitch a few times and came away not very impressed. Now guys do improve and I'd never call anyone who can touch high-90s a non prospect when they're 24-years old, but I think there's still a long road ahead.  Again, I'm not rooting against the guy at all.

      I understand the Lenny Webster pun (not bad), but who exactly would be an upgrade over Mcann( who is a backup catcher)  other than grinding Rush into the ground. Mcann is no more this teams problem , than Caleb Joseph a problem for the teams he was backup to Matt Wieters. Historically if your looking for Offense youre not going to find it from a backup catcher. If they play him less which they will eventually do, then they have to grind on Adley. Aint shit for free.
