I admit I was only following along in the game thread and not watching the game, but 90 pitches in 4 innings?  Why would you let Povich start the 5th?  Did you expect him to throw 110 pitches?  Get a 10 pitch inning after struggling all night?  It's bad when you can see mismanagement watching gamecast.

1) Irvin starting the 8th w/5 RH batters in a row due up, including Guerrero (who killed us all day) leading off. We had just cut the lead to two, and had some momentum. Guerrero then homered to CF, pushing the lead back to three, and Irvin gave up two more hits in the inning before getting out of it. Irvin had given us two shut-out innings, but sending him out for another was a huge mistake. 

2) Pitching to Guerrero in the 9th with two outs and a man on third. Let me get this straight -- at that point Guerrero on the day was 6-9 with 2 HR, 2 doubles, 2 singles, 4 RBI and 4 runs scored, and you pitched to him with a runner in scoring position and first base open? That is the very definition of stupidity. His subsequent double in the gap plated the 8th and final Toronto run, and pretty much put the game out of reach.

There aren’t many times where you can point to the manager as being THE GUY who lost a game for your team, but tonight was one of them. Hyde screwed up when going to the bullpen and then screwed up when we had our last offensive chance in the 8th.

So Brandon Hyde had quite the over managing experience tonight against the Blue Jays.  Quick hook of Burch Smith when he looked fine and trusting Soto in a high leverage situation when the bullpen was fresh (even factoring for Suarez's emergency start).

Pinch hitting for Jackson Holliday because of a lefty on lefty match up when he hit another home run tonight. Slater did draw a walk, but not pinch hitting for Urias when he has reverse splits this season. Let Holliday hit and pinch hit for Urias instead.

Pinch hitting Mayo in a pressure spot for Cowser because again it's a southpaw not factoring in Mayo is struggling and looking for his first hit. Cowser has been playing well you don't just pull your good players for platoon advantages. Modern benches aren't deep enough to allow it.

This game was the worst game Hyde ever managed since he was manager.  He clearly killed any hope of a comeback.

Yep not the players.  He went to the left hander with 3 of the 4 next hitters being left handed.  Lefties are hitting .355 vs Smith so not a guy you want pitching to them.  Soto has been good vs left handers and in that spot of the lineup with only two lefties in pen that is a place Soto is gonna have to get guys out if he is here as that is pretty low leverage situation in 6th with 2 outs.

Hyde is now on the clock.    Suspect his contract is up, probably frustrated he has not been extended yet.  Elias evaluating, Hyde reacting poorly and over managing.

Apparently they want the manager to not give a guy a chance after 2 games. The hell with his entire career. 
 

After that performance I’m sure he will be backed off.

If you're going to bring a LH into a 1-0 game then Cionel Perez has to be the first choice, not Soto.

On top of everything you mentioned: if you’re going to use Mayo as a pinch hitter, do it with nobody out, instead of using Slater there.  Less pressure on Mayo that way.  You can use Slater in the second PH spot and it would make a lot more sense.  

Very dubious night for Hyde.
