Oakland will receive RHP Mason Barnett, RHP Will Klein and OF Jared Dickey from Kansas City in exchange for Erceg, who is under club control for five more years through 2029.

KC's #4 and #18 prospects along with Dickey whos a 22 year old with an .800 OPS over two season in low minors.

Feels like KC paid more for Erceg than the O's paid for Taylor.

I would say that this year is MORE of an imperative to make a strong playoff push BECAUSE of the Burns trade. 

 

Thought this thread was a discussion of the trade deadline, not things done in the off-season.

Dunno. Haven't looked at Kerkering or Hoffman's stats since they don't appear to be on the market. What I do know is that Dominguez isn't nearly as bad as you think he is, and the Phillies deciding they have superior options doesn't mean they were desperate to dump him, nor does it mean he's not an upgrade in our bullpen. That's where your logic breaks.

It would seem any trade of Kjerstad is fully off the table seeing as we just traded the hedge for a Kjerstad trade in Stowers. 

I think I'm honestly pretty surprised Elias decided to roll with Kjerstad. I'm not sure why that surprises me, but it does.

Wait wasn’t the conversation why the Phillies were willing to part with Dominguez? At least that’s the point I made. Their pen is way better than ours and so is their rotation. How are we supposed to compete with that? Or is that not the goal to be the best?

I didn't say they didn't give up value.

But how wasn't it safe?

Trading depth for a proven pitcher on a one year deal.

That's safe.
