Well they had 105,705,232 in 2011... so add $23,000,000.00 to total... you get $128,705.232.00.

So they are probably between $125MM - $135MM

This isn't true. They are getting insurance money for the injured player. Next year they will need to make a trade but this year they aren't really raising their payroll very much.

Detroit is a freakin' thrid-world country compared to the rest of the US, and the Tigers somehow offer him $214M. Not that I would have given him that contract, but Baltimore has to learn that this is what it's gonna take to get top FAs from now on.

If Detroit can throw this kind of money away, as depressed an area as it is, etc., it means a lot of other teams could do it as well. Everyone is calling it a crazy and ridiculous contract by the Tigers but maybe it isn't when compared to the Pujols deal.

You guys are thinking small money and too locked into that mentality.

This Tigers/Prince deal shows there is more money that can be spent by owners than they would have us believe. It also pretty clearly shows that the Orioles could do much more than they act like they can do.

You're assuming it's all going to work out great.

I see $23,780,000.00 coming on the books this year. Please show me where the $23,780,000.00 is coming off so that there payroll is not raising "very much"?
