Mayo for Urias is probably a wash between the two. Mayo's bat is far superior to Urias and Urias glove is far superior to Mayo. If Urias had some speed i would keep him but he is also one of the slowest guys i have seen for his size. Then you add in it would save you about 1.5 million this year if you trade him and it seems like easy decision. You can then use that to help get you another bullpen arm down the stretch. -

Part of that is that Mayo really wants to be a third baseman. Part of that is the Orioles already have options at RF and first base and part of that is if you put him at first, you negate his arm strength which he has a ton. I believe him when he says he wants to be a third baseman. I think he can do it and basically turn into Austin Riley for us. But even Austin Riley is a guy who hits bombs sure but doesn’t really hit for average. Anyway, I like Mayo a lot as a player but let’s not kid ourselves on where he is currently. Offensive stats are great and he’s great at putting them up but if he wants to fulfill his dream and be a third baseman, he’s got a lot of improving to do. -

I have a question. Why would the A's trade Miller? Why would the A's trade Miller for another player who has five years of control left, when they could just keep the high-performing young guy they have locked up through 2028? If you're a team that is looking to build for the future don't you build around players like Miller? And if you're waiting for some point in the future where you're the Las Vegas A's, I'm still not sure you're making any moves because there are no very young players who're likely to be both more valuable than Miller and need 3-4 years in the minors. -

If that’s your opinion, cool. But what I see is Felix Bautista like electric stuff. You can’t just go anywhere and fine 103 with good command. Did you see him blow away Soto and Henderson in the same week? He has the kind of stuff that unless he makes a mistake and the ball finds the bat path, you don’t hit him (regardless of the batter). Question - Can you name all the other relievers who can do what he does? (103 with good command) -
Miller is 2023 Felix Bautista with better control. -

I am not worried about his velocity at all. He’s not throwing his knuckle curve for strikes. When you go from a 2 pitch pitcher to a 1 pitch fastball guy, then you are going to get hit. He needs to find his release point on knuckle curve. It’s been 2 weeks of guys just waiting fastball.
