Drew just missed a homer. McFarland, being a lefty, seems to feel like he must attack LH hitters with his breaking pitch and he makes more mistakes with that pitch than any other. He had his sinking fastball working very well tonight and was locating it well.

Yeah, his slider can be problematic and he's actually more effective against RHB's (2 seam and nice ch):though his platoon splits aren't large. He needs to get more depth and consistency on the slider or maybe go with a curveball.

That's a good call. He doesn't seem to get the depth with the slider to LHB. A curve might give them a different look.

Looks like though he needs to refine a few things, T.J. is a promising pitcher.

Remember when he was a rule 5 pickup at the beginning of the year? There was a debate as to whether he would make the team. Here he is pitching meaningful innings in September.

Between flash and tj "70's stache" McFarland buck/dd have done a good job with te rule 5's over the last two seasons. Who do they pick up next year?
