I don't know if this question has been asked yet...but are we even sure that the Orioles HAVE made an offer to Gonzo?

Sometimes these reports aren't always true...kind of like the 6/90 offer we made to Carlos Lee that never really happened?

Nice question, I haven't seen claims of this anywhere else. Why would they sign him anyway before the winter meetings where most of the offseason moves take shape?

If we do sign him, I just hope, theres no vesting option on plate appearances.

My question about signings like this is, what is the upside? So we have Gonzo for a year, so what? How does that help us in the big picture. I think we can all be honest with ourselves in saying that the O's aren't going to be contenders this season (barring some pitching miracle). We need to look at things long term, building down the road. That way when our pitching develops into a point where we are contenders, we'll have an offense to match.

Guys like Gonzo, Millar, Wright, in all likihood, aren't going to be part of a championship caliber O's team. It's just a never ending recycling process of our team needs each year.

The talk about signing these guys for 1 year, so we have room for Wells, Jones, Hunter next year is complete balony, IMO. I'll believe it when I see it, besides, you don't rely on who might be available next year.
