Not as a bullpen guy.  Not if he is was decent.

He would have had to been elite to be in the ML and earning what he has earned, and has guaranteed in the NBA.

You are correct. As for the top athletes, they can get to the money a bit quicker in basketball and football.

Well, elite relievers earn a lot more than $5.3 mm/yr, once they are free agents.   But Connaughton would still be in his arbitration years even in an optimistic scensrio

Pay minor leaguers an attractive salary and the players will come, when the players come the game speeds up and improves.  Not too difficult.
