So Nelson delivered the goods tonight. Glad to see he's having some fun after the slump he had. What a win. Great efforts all around. Tillman turning out a great start, clutch homers by Adam and Jonathan, a nice walk by CD to bring Adam up, and ZB while he did not have his best stuff not panicking. I love this team so much.

And only a minor dent in his ERA at that.

The dread is strong in you tonight.

We won in the end, but they seem to make his job really difficult. I hope if we get to the playoffs we dont see them.

I find it hard to believe some 12 year old flying all over the country 81 games a year. What about school?

I know in the past, I've seen sons of the ball players acting as bat boys. Mark McGwire's son, Matt, was with him most every game during the single season HR record pursuit.

Can you imagine how many bat boys would "accidentally" make mistakes during games if they worked for the home team.

The first thing to understand is that, except in very rare circumstances, bat boys don't travel on road trips with the team. So the home and visiting bat boys are both employed by the home team.

During any given major league game, both the home and visiting team batboys will be drawn from the city where the game is taking place (batboys typically do not travel on the road with their team, unless they are relatives of a player).

As a teenager growing up in the shadow of Memorial Stadium, working as a batboy in the clubhouses with the Baltimore Orioles and opposing teams was a dream job for Ronald Shelton.

The age limit is 14, just an fyi (queue the More You Know music! :) ) Also some like the Red Sox have a 43 year old bat boy. I'd be surprised if he didn't travel with team.

I mean, it's possible since they are so young, but I'm sure there are some teams they have their own no matter what. The Yankees bat boy makes well over $20.00/hr.

I worked on a deal to buy the Padres. The batboys, ballgirls, and ballboys, were all subject to the minimum wage requirement and made over $16 per hour.
