I agree. If he was exceptional in any inherent way independent of being the Yankee shortstop, I would grudgingly give him props. But, no. Let it rain till October!

This. I think if you put him in Pittsburgh, with no major media and no postseason experience, he will not be receiving half the accolades he is now.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY

410 PM EDT WED SEP 24 2014

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH THURSDAY/...

AS HIGH PRESSURE SLIDES INTO THE NEW ENGLAND COAST...THE RAIN SHIELD

ASSOCIATED WITH A MID ATLANTIC COASTAL LOW IS SLOWLY PROPAGATING

NORTH THROUGH NORTHERN VIRGINIA. THEREFORE...HAVE KEPT DRY

CONDITIONS THROUGH THIS EVENING WITH INCREASE IN POPS LATE TONIGHT.

STILL LOOKING AT A GENERAL ONE TO TWO INCHES ALONG THE COAST WITH UP

TO AN INCH INLAND TONIGHT THROUGH TOMORROW...WITH THE BRUNT OF THIS

RAIN FALLING THURSDAY.

LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL BE IN THE MID TO UPPER 50S INLAND AND

AROUND 60 DEGREES ALONG THE COAST.

&&

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT/...

A COASTAL SYSTEM WILL BE AFFECTING THE AREA ON THURSDAY WITH

RAINFALL AND GUSTY WINDS. THE COASTAL LOW WILL MOVE ALONG THE

COASTLINE THEN OFFSHORE DURING THE DAY ON THURSDAY. THE HEAVIEST

RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO BE THURSDAY MORNING INTO THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

THE RAINFALL SHOULD BEGIN TO DISSIPATE LATER DURING THE DAY

AS THE STRONGER LIFT AND MOISTURE DISSIPATES. SO WE WILL HAVE POPS

LOWERING LATER IN THE DAY. WITH THE CLOUD COVER AND RAIN ACROSS THE

AREA...TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE LOWER 60S INLAND AND MID TO UPPER

60S ALONG THE COAST.

ON THURSDAY NIGHT...ALTHOUGH THE LOW WILL BE WELL OFFSHORE...THERE

COULD BE LINGERING SHOWERS...MAINLY ACROSS OUR FAR EASTERN

AREAS...WHICH SHOULD DIMINISH THROUGH THE NIGHT AS THE MID-LEVEL LOW

MOVES EAST AS WELL.

I can hear ESPN now.

Jeter made the rain go away! Next he will be able to part the seas. :laughlol:

did anyone else catch the espn baseball crew talking about this scenario last night during the Dodgers/ Giants game?

it blows my mind how really, really, uninformed they are.

1) they assumed Angels had tiebreaker over O's

2) they assumed the Orioles would have a choice in whether the game is played or not

3) They didn't realize that there are 6 days between makeup game and game 3.

4) they assumed Tillman would pitch the tiebreaker game (LOL!)

5) they assumed it would rain enough to make the field unplayable.

It's very unlikely it's rain shortened, they'll either play 9 or none at all.

also, the system is moving slower than thought. rain might not taper off until late tonight. which still would result in the game being played tonight....but don't stadiums have a time where baseball can't e played past? 2 am or something? this game could very well be up against that if the forecast pans out.

Not necessary. He is one of the Yankees that are good people. There is no reason

to hate on him. ARod is another story. Hate on him all you want. IMO

Agreed. But here is the thought that is bothering me about this game being rained out:

It will potentially take a game longer for CD to get back in the fold. I think that is the largest ramification of there being a rainout.

We can ask to make it up to benefit Chris's suspension! Think MLB would go for that? Hell, let's play two!

That is pathetic. This is why I watch MLB Network.

Just assuming the game means nothing and mlb demands we play it Monday, are we able to forfeit it

Heh, hadn't thought of that! Of course Buck respects the game too much to ever do that, even if it would be the result of the league completely disregarding league integrity just to get a Farewell Jeter game in for NY fans.

While I at first thought a Monday makeup would be awful, it might not be so bad. They'd only have to stop off in NY on the way back from Toronto, so traveling isn't much of an issue. And they'd still get two full days off before the ALDS. Three days off might be too many, honestly. We might come in just a little sharper than Det/KC with their three days of rest... (Yeah, I'm a glass-half-full kinda fan, I guess!)

Already been asked and answered in this thread. We could not show up, and be charged with a 9-0 loss per the MLB rules. But MLB has already said the game won't be played Monday unless the O's are half game behind the Angels.
