He is probably a downgrade over Delmon Young but last year's Delmon Young isn't on the market.

What a great deal for a guy who was so good for us last year. Guess people are still turned off by his past problems.

Prefer someone who can actually hit.

Ichiro would have only been behind Delmon and Pearce in BA last year on the team, and 5th in OBP. If you remove the builds, race and handedness, he's basically a LH version of Delmon Young.

Not thrilled about paying a guy almost 3 million who has been a negative -1 WAR player 2 of the last 3 years, but I guess its something. I would have rather signed another DH type though.

Very solid deal for the Orioles. It's amazing that Delmon seemed to be hanging onto his job by a string at points during the season (especially in the beginning of the year when he was truly just an extra player), and now he resigns. Good for the team, good for Young.
