According to Baseball Reference, in his career Adam Jones has an OPS of 1.006 when he swings at the first pitch. That includes 49 doubles, 4 triples and 40 HR, and 145 RBI.

Let him swing at the first pitch all he wants.

He's hitting lead off. He has a different responsibility now

The one issue is when he swings at first pitch and it is a ball he gets behind in the count. That stat only looks at balls in play. I don't mind him swinging at first pitches much but do think that stat is a bit flawed.

He shouldn't be hitting leadoff. he's not a lead off hitter. It worked a little bit for awhile, but I think he needs to get out of the leadoff spot.

He must lead the majors in this dubious category over the past 3 or 4 years. Anyone care to investigate?

That would be a pretty time-consuming thing to research, though I'm sure Jones is near the top. Without doing a comprehensive check of all players, on a spot check at least the following AL players have more one-pitch at bats than Jones in 2016: Robinson Cano, Alcides Escobar, Kole Calhoun, Jose Altuve and George Springer. There could be others. And then there's the NL.

Baltimore is eighth as a team in At Bats being terminated with ONE PITCH. This also accounts for the 6 Hit By Pitch, 2 Sac Hits, 3 Sac Flies

The batting line is First in the American League when the First Pitch is put into play with the following slash line .403/.409/.693/1.102.

Leading off a game, 5 times the at bat was terminated with one pitch and Adam Jones had all Five. One for Five in those Plate Appearances.
