Too early to give up. Lots can go south on the Sox as well in the next 43 or whatever games. Yes, it's disheartening to be down vs. them in this game (and losing last night), but just when it seems this team is down, they show some heart. Maybe we're wrong (you and I, MD), but they've been down before and we're back in first a week or so later.

As I type this, tonight looks even worse, 8-1, but it was just Sunday they were down 7-1. Someone (Adam, hell - maybe Buck) in the dugout is gonna get disgusted and say "let's get these bastards, this is our house."

Thanks Jeff, I needed that.

We need someone to go do this right now and kick it into gear.

I certainly don't want to go there. But then I didn't choose to go there when we were there. Every bit of what happens on that field is completely and totally beyond my control. We may yet win enough, but we certainly could also lose a bunch. Either way, me being "happier" on a board probably doesn't change the outcome much.

That comment probably just cost us three more runs!

Hard to get juiced when your team is getting straight-up MURKED. More importantly, how can David Ortiz possibly justify that idiotic haircut at his age?

I don't know whether I will be happier that his porky, ugly face will be forever off my TV in all future years or the glib smugness of ARoid..but I am very happy they are both gone for good.

There's a good chance were close to there again. Overpaid players regressing, productive players getting older or about to hit FA, and worst of all absolutely nothing on the farm.

April was a little better than what you are giving them credit for. That being said what you say has truth but I still think we will have one more hot stretch in us.

League average: 4.5 R/G

Orioles: 4.7

By month:

April: 4.7

May: 4.1

June: 6.6

July: 3.4

August: 4.3

June and July are outliers. So, we're league average.

Think people need to get past the thought that the bats are going to magically turn back into the June numbers.

Amen. Sick of them both, especially Papi. May they both be stranded or rot in HOF purgatory for years to come.

Indeed - it's a double gift to the Orioles and their fans. But now... prepare for 10 more years of someone named "Mookie." Prince_Paul_Pootie_Tang.jpg

    • That is a big hypothetical and I know how many of you will struggle to accept the premise.  BUT, if Mayo can handle 3B everything else could fall into place by next year.   That allows Kjerstad to take over RF when Santander leaves.  It leaves Mountcastle at 1B with Basallo in waiting.   O’Hearn to get another year at DH.  And either Westburg or Holliday at 2B.  Here’s the kicker.  Why not attempt to turn Westburg or Holliday into a CF? The Padres had no problem doing that with their #1 SS prospect.  Both Westburg (28.7) and Holliday (28.8) show better sprint speed than Merrill (28.0) or Mullins (27.7).   Merrill already has a +3 OAA so it looks to be a success so far.       This would allow the Orioles to solve one of their biggest questions.   Who succeeds Cedric and will they be ready by OD 2026? It also puts all of our top guys comfortably in one spot.  Logjam solved. 1B Basallo 2B Holliday (only because Holliday supporters get more upset than Westburg’s) SS Henderson 3B Mayo C Rutschman  LF Cowser CF Westburg RF Kjerstad DH Whoever You’re welcome!
    • Anybody notice him grimacing and flexing/shaking out his throwing hand a lot during this start? The grimacing was usually after a strikeout, so that may just be his pumped up face. But he is always inspecting his fingers (blister? callous?) and shaking out his hand. Broadcast didn't mention it and he seemed fine in the post-game and throughout the start. Just something I noticed.
    • I've watched him a few times this week against the Rays and Cards. The guy throws really hard and throws a lot of stuff that is a ball out of the hand. He walks guys and throws a lot of pitches to get through innings. I'm not sure what I'd give up for him.
    • How do you know it's Melanie, and not Ben Wagner, Geoff Arnold, or Brett Hollander.
    • Yea he was a starter and quite frankly, anything toxic coming out of that org should be taken with a huge grain of salt. It’s a disaster of an organization on every level imaginable.
    • KB mentioned during the game yesterday that he won't be in DC, so it's Melanie and Ben, such bad timing with a day off before and after the series.
    • I saw this game. I saw it in real time, and I remember thinking, after the last out,”someone better get the game ball, because NOBODY is gonna forget this game.” And just as if he read my mind, Mark Reynolds got the game ball and gave it to Chris Davis. This is a link to an article by Grant Brisbee, written the next day. Brisbee is the best sports writer I’ve ever read, and this is funny, prophetic, and a wonderful read. I share so you, too can relive one of the greatest of all Oriole Games.   https://www.sbnation.com/2012/5/7/3004252/baltimore-orioles-boston-red-sox-17-innings-chris-davis-pitching
