Just reported on Mike and Mike that Andy MacPhail is the New COO and negotiations underway for Girardi right now...new iminent

Part of that negotiations is that Peter Angelos is forbidden from sitting in the stands and heckling the umpires... ;)

I don't like the part about MacPhail unless he is replacing Flanagan. If we're bringing in yet another voice to the front office without getting rid of another one, this organization is doomed.

If this turns out to be accurate it's another example of a dysfunctional front office. There is no excuse for leaking that they are talking to someone while they still have their current manager.

If it turns out to be accurate it'll be great for the O's to get someone like Giardi. But now if it doesn't whomever they do go to at some point it'll be a disappointment. This organization needs to learn how to keep things quiet. If Loose Lips Sink Ships, the O's boat would be at the bottom of the ocean.

Who is MacPhail?

A name that is well known in baseball. He is the son Lee MacPhail who was the Orioles GM from 1958 to 1965. From Wikipedia-

He is the son of former American League president Lee MacPhail, and the grandson of Larry MacPhail, the only father-and-son members of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

From the ESPN article.

MacPhail and Girardi overlapped in Chicago during MacPhail's tenure as Cubs president and CEO of the Chicago Cubs, which began in 1994 and ended in 2006. Girardi, who managed the Florida Marlins in 2006, was the Cubs' catcher for two stints totaling six seasons, the last from 2000-02.

MacPhail won two World Series championships as general manager of the Minnesota Twins in 1987 and 1991.
