Trade value!  He's a cornerstone for the team.  ?

He's the top,

He's the Colosseum!

He's the top,

Cornerstone of the Te-am!

Someone, somewhere is whining that it was a bad route and that a better outfielder wouldn't have had to have leap for it.

And that he isn't Paul Blair or something called The Bumblebee.

He should have doubled up the runner at first - AJ would have!  And that OPS for a CF?    ?

Looks like a guy that hasn’t played much CF

Well that would be very true. What is also true is that Wilkerson is showing some nice ability right now to make adjustments and his ability to learn to play a tough new position on the fly in the big leagues is pretty impressive. From what I've seen so far, he's going to be ok out there defensively when it's all said and done, but he's going to be below average for the immediate future. He has enough foot speed to make up for his mistakes on routes and jumps and honestly, it makes me wonder why someone didn't give him more reps at the position in the minors.

So far he's -1 on Outs above Average and has a -2% actual catch percentage which of course makes him slightly below average. But let's remember, Mullins played most of his minor league career as a CF and his numbers were not great last year either as he made the adjustment to playing with upper decks and major league hit paths and velocity.

I haven't watched much this year because it just makes me depressed, but it seems there's a lot to like from Wilkerson, but I've also noticed just one walk in 80 plate appearances. Is this something that should be worrisome? I mean, he's not ultimately a long-term starter, but even as a super-utility guy, is this something that'll catch up to him offensively?

I think it's just SSS. In 2017, at the A+/AA level, he walked 39 times in 453 PAs; the year before it was 45/470 (also at A+/AA). His other minor-league seasons don't show a propensity to walk, but the totals are acceptable.

He now has 39 strikeouts and four walks in 129 MLB PAs.  I know Ks have gone off the charts recently, but I don't think we're to the point where a nearly 10:1 K:BB ratio is something that you can overlook.  Above A ball he has 34 walks in 580 PAs, or 5.8%.   That's not much better than Adam Jones, except Jones was doing his all in the majors.

Used to be 10:1 was a good rule of thumb. If you walked 50 times in 500 PAs that was acceptable.  The last time Wilkerson did that he was an older player in the Sally League.
