I thought this would be a fun time capsule of a thread.     Who do you think will post the most rWAR over the next five seasons?   Will Trout continue to dominate?   Or will someone else step to the front?

I only had room for 9 candidates plus “other.”   If you choose “other,” please specify who here.    Here are some I didn’t include in the poll who seem like plausible candidates:

Anthony Rendon

Francisco Lindor

Matt Chapman

Carlos Correa

Ozzie Albies

Gleyber Torres

Nolan Arenado

Fernando Tatis, Jr.

Rafael Devers

Honestly, I’d put several of those over Manny, but I put Manny in there because he’s being paid to be a leading candidate.

You’ll also note I didn’t list any pitchers.    There could be a leading candidate there, but I’ll be damned if I could predict who.    If you’ve got one, go for it!

I’ll plan to bump this thread at the end of every season and post a leaderboard    Who knows, maybe by 2024 Rutschman will be on it!

I voted Betts.  I’d like to see what he can do in CF if he gets traded.

If I had to pick a SP, I’d go with Cole.

Robles and Bichette are two guys that I think will be in the discussion over the next five years.  Robles had a 4.1 rWAR compared to Harper’s 4.2.  His defense in CF Will pad his total while he learns to hit at the MLB level.

Speaking of Babe Ruth, how did he not win like 1000 MVPs?

The MVP award as we know it today didn’t exist until 1931.    There was something called the League Award from 1922-28, but a player could only win it once.
