He already is.   He hasn't been on the 40 for a few weeks.

Gotcha, figured there was a reason it was unmentioned. I knew the 40 man hasn't been full so wasn't sure whether that move had been made.

It doesn't take much when you factor in the lack of minor league rehab games.

With what a 60 day season, 45 day injured list, pretty much wipes out the season.

You are also right about lack of minor league rehab games for those even trying to come back.

It seems like everyone or almost everyone on this thread is predicting that Mountcastle gets cut.

Is this a service time issue, where they will call him up at some point?

Otherwise, I don't understand the sense of optioning your best MLB-ready prospect when there is no minor league for him to play in.

It's for service time.   We are all wondering when he comes up... we probably get an extra year of service time after a week or 10 days.   Will he come up that soon?   Only Elias knows....
