Yeah. I guess you were. I am not certain how Korean baseball compares to the Independent leagues.

LOL, help, I am alone on this island!

I just liked the bat better than Flaherty, maybe that was it....:)

That's a good question, and it would depend on which independent league you're talking about. The Atlantic League is probably somewhere between AA and high A in average player quality, but with some AAA players and some rookie ball talent on the same teams. The Pecos League is probably more like rookie ball, with some guys who would otherwise never be paid to play ball.

I'd imagine Korea is something like the Atlantic League with some players of at least marginal MLB talent. And probably a legitimate MLB regular or three.

Alfredo Simon getting the ball today for the Reds at Wrigley and has already thrown four scoreless innings. Since he left the O's he's been dynamite out of the Reds' pen and this year has pitched to a 0.95 ERA as a starter (albeit SSS). I've always liked Alfredo and am glad to see him doing well.

Koji had an injury scare with the Sox (shoulder tightness). He's back, having pitched yesterday for the first time in 8 days. It'll be interesting to see if he holds up. He was always fragile, is old, and it's still pretty cold out these days. Still, I don't want to see that guy with the game on the line.

I stick to my guns that he was vastly underrated by fans. Big Simon fan myself.

Oh yea? What did you see in him? At the time the O's let him go he was 30 years old and had a professional (minors and majors) ERA of about 5.00 with peripherals that didn't stand out at all. He was a big guy who threw hard but got no results.

He reminded me a lot of Tommy Hunter, who also I feel is underrated. Both Tommy and Simon can be a good swing man or 5th starter, middle man or even a closer. That versatility is impressive in my book.

I saw a mid-90s fastball and solid breaking stuff. His problem was repeating his mechanics to continue getting strike outs and ground balls. Big man with good stuff, I knew he would find work after being let go by the O's.
