Elias isn't going to start AR's clock with an Orioles team this bad except for a September call up. That's just the way top prospects are handled now to maximize their service time before free agency.

This is true. I just realized what the Orioles’  flailing away at high fastballs reminds me of: a blindfolded kid swinging at a piñata when he doesn’t know where it is.
