That was one terrible post game interview.  Was messing up canned lines and acted like he was was annoyed to be doing an interview.  Doesn’t seem to have much going on upstairs.  He admitted he lost focus in the 4th and became a “fan” watching the offense put up runs.  Pretty frustrating inning.  Hope he bounces back in a big way.

I know I'm probably in the minority on this but I never watch or listen to interviews from athletes. I'm guessing most of them are not all that interested in talking about what everyone just watched them do... good or bad.

Now, I will listen to sports talk on XM all day long but I tend to tune out when they have an athlete on the phone with them. Heck, I used to watch the same exact Sports center over and over in the morning.

He's new.  He hasn't learned to give rehearsed, canned answers to everything.  At least he said he was going to be reviewing video to see what happened.

It's not that bad, IMO.  Not all of these guys are going to be brilliant and engaging in front of the media.  Not all of these guys are going to like answering questions, especially after a bit of struggling.  Maybe there's a little bit of Bedard here, and that's fine.

Which brings me to the best ever Bedard/media exchange:

Bedard:  "I'm only allowing three questions."

Reporter:  "Why only three questions?"

Bedard:  "That's one."

I died.  That was hilarious.

Yeah not that bad. It's weird to suddenly have 5 microphones shoved in your face in a confined area when you're 25 and coming off your first bad outing. Nobody wants to do that. He just looked uncomfortable to me.

We haven't had "top" pitching prospects coming up in years. Since Matusz and Tillman and Britton and Arrieta. I think we forget that there are adjustments and learning curves.

The dudes stuff, especially his breaking stuff, looks ELITE. He's "grooving" fastballs when he gets behind in counts. And he was too cute after a 6 run inning that the O's gave him when he just needed to attack after you get 6 runs. The "stuff" has been there, which makes me very exited. He's had plenty of dominant innings. He's just a few pitches bite him. I'm unbelievbly excited from what I've seen so far.

Strongly disagree. He came off as extremely candid to me and frustrated with himself and humbled by his tough outing on the biggest stage in his sport. For how much we complain about the lack of transparency from the FO, his candor here was much appreciated by me. Not sure why you’d prefer stock lines to this  🤷‍♂️

That he realizes what he did wrong means he probably will not repeat it.

Noted.   Where did I say I prefer canned lines?  I said he was messing up canned lines and that he didn’t look like he wanted to be in the interview.  To me, not a good look for a new guy.  I imagine he knew he was going to have to do interviews when he aspired to be a Major League Baseball player.  I thought he came off very robotic and generally disinterested.

That was the best post game interview ever.

True, I misread your original post, my apologies.  I do understand your point of view, but seem to have a different read on his behavior. Crazy how subjective human behavior is! Hoping his next post game interview is after a W.
