Maybe.   It'd require him going to Memphis mid-week.    They can keep him rehabbing closer pitching for Bowie again Sunday, and then Norfolk home the following week.

It' looks to me like he'll pitch Tuesday and Sunday for Bowie, pitch Fri. 9.16 for Norfolk and if all goes well debut at home against Detroit Wed 9.21.

I would be surprised if they only give him 3 minor league starts, especially after he only threw 31 pitches after his last start.

That said, easing him in vs Det at home would make some sense vs starting him on the road vs NY.

I think the turn to turn growth will be 15 or 20 pitches per game, but even if they hold it to 10, he'd cover 40-50-60 and have 70 pitches for the Tigers on 9/21.     We'll see Tuesday.

If the Orioles are going to unbox him at all in 2022 like they should, it looks like the only option to put him in a favorable situation on paper.   Otherwise Fenway, or Yankees-Astros-Jays.

Last year Shane Baz made his MLB debut September 20th, and started in the ALDS.    Are we emulating the Rays or not?

Has it been confirmed that Grayson is starting for Bowie tonight?   I’m toying with going to the game to check him out.  I haven’t seen any official report that he’s pitching tonight, just speculation here.

Won’t need him at the major league level given how the team is kind of falling out of it and doesn’t seem like they are planning on ramping him up fast enough anyway. Maybe he gets one start in a late meaningless game.

Also is 96 good?  I though he sat more like 97-8. Given the quotes about his arm having never felt better seems odd he wouldn’t have max velo.

I went to the game tonight.  On the stadium gun, Grayson was sitting 96-98.   In the first inning he was dominant but 1-2 of his fastballs were head-high.   That was more of a problem in the second inning when he probably threw 6 fastballs that were way high, including the wild pitch that allowed a run to score.  He also hung a curve ball that was slammed off the wall in left center; that was the runner who later scored on the WP.   Three of the pitches called balls looked like strikes to me, and I had a pretty good vantage point.  

SG questioned why Grayson only threw 40 pitches.  I think the reason is that the 2nd inning had such a high pitch count (29, only 15 of which were strikes).   The O’s just don’t like to push their minor leaguers after an inning like that.  He did go throw a few in the bullpen afterwards.  

Overall I thought he looked pretty good but he did lose command of the fastball at times.
