Definitely sellers. We are trying to compete in the AL East. The bar is very high. You don't get anything for getting .500.

Still boggles my mind we didn't trade Mullins and Means this offseason. Who knows what we can get for Mullins now. Probably need to wait for the season to end and hope his numbers improve.

Santander and Mancini need to hit more if we are going to get anything of interest for them. If not probably they are probably just more useful to us as organizational fillers...Santander at least, as he's cheap. Mancini we could sell off for peanuts just to offload his salary.

I mean, I would start signing free agents starting in 2023 if it were up to me, but it’s not. 2024 will have Rutschman, Rodriguez, and Hall with some experience, Mountcastle will be a team veteran by then in context to others, and some of the further down prospects like Henderson, Cowser, Westburg etc will hopefully be ready to come up by then. Add in one or two decent free agents and I don’t see why 2024 couldn’t be a really solid place to start expecting an actual good team.

IF all those players are healthy AND produce in their first 2-3 years... you are 7 players into a 25 man roster?

I don't think we have a lot lot to sell, at least not at the ML level, so I don't expect we'll be very active. Jordan Lyles has some value, so we might be able to get us something in return, but it would be nice to get some more good outings from him. Some teams might be interested in a reliever for the stretch run if we have one available. But I doubt we'll be able to move any position players. Realistically, I don't see us getting any good prospects in return.

But at some point we do need to trade some of our talent, otherwise we'll have some tough decisions to make come the next Rule 5 Draft. I'm guessing those kinds of trades won't happen until the season ends, or maybe into early 2023.

Not even the Dodgers have 25 All Stars.  There is room for players like Akin, Lopez, Perez, Zimmerman and Tyler Wells on a playoff team.  It might not be those players, but probably equivalent players will be here when the O's do make the playoffs.  Even the 1983 Orioles had players like Dennis Martinez (7-16), Tim Stoddard, Tito Landrum and Len Sakata.  I'm sure the O's were expecting better than 7-16 from Martinez.  Just saying the O's don't need to have 25 great players.  Every playoff team has players like Odor, Mateo and Urias.  Obviously that can't be 3/4 of your infield, but 1 regular like that won't sink your team.

At this point I don’t even think trading Lyles, Mancini, Santander, and their $25ish million 2023 salaries is a sell off. It just has to be done. Especially considering that we have DH/COF depth that is ready/near ready.

I like Lopez and Tate, so I don’t think we settle for Givens/Castro type returns for them. But I’m all for selling high on relievers.

I think the only way Lyles will get moved is if they feel Harvey can fill the innings-eating veteran role. That's probably more important than taking a flyer or two on some marginal prospects which is all Lyles would bring back in a deal anyway.

You also shave the salary for this year and the buyout for next year.

I’m not sure if you’re serious? You want me to list a 25 man roster, years in advance?

It’s just too much money to pay in the 2nd half of the season for a last place team. Plus, the money saved next year.

Other than Lyles, we actually have players we need to take a look at. Stowers, Diaz, and Neustrom.

We are very clearly sellers and I would expect a few trades. I would be surprised if Mancini is not traded. His power is down, but he's hitting over .300 and has a 126 OPS+ so that should still have some value if we eat some of the money. I don't expect a haul, but a piece with some upside. I think we will listen on Santander and Mullins, but don't think the return for Mullins right now would be worth it and I would prefer to hold on to Santander as the improved walk rate has me intrigued, even if the average is down. I wouldn't be made if we dealt him, but I don't see it as a necessity as I did earlier in the year.

I would trade Lyles, but I'm not sure if the Orioles do. Without him, the rotation is very young. Ideally, I'd love to see a Zimmermann, Wells, Bradish, Grayson Rodriguez and DL Hall rotation in the last 2 months, but I'm not sure we see Hall this year and, if we do, I'm not sure it's as a starter, but instead as a piggy back guy. If, by chance, he is starting, I would also see the team go with a 6-man rotation the last couple months to save innings on everyone. If Means were healthy, Lyles being dealt would be a foregone conclusion, but without him, it's not, particularly given his return is probably lottery tickets similar to the Cashner return.

We have two months before the deadline and things will change but right now no one is pushing Mancini for his spot,  he has a option in his contract and he wants to stay.  Elias may pick up his option if things stay as they are.

We talk about Stowers but right now he projects to hit .215 in the majors with power.  Elias may want to see improvement before he gets promoted.

In 2023 Elias has to show progress in the record.   Trading away his hitters without replacements doesn't seem to do that.

We should be and will be sellers.  Surely a professional hitter like Mancini will draw some trade interest.  He's been unlucky this season but he's made consistent hard contact.  I'll be surprised if he isn't traded.  Jorge Lopez could also draw interest for a contender--he's established that he has good enough stuff to close or set up for a playoff team.

I hope you are right about Mancini!!!❤️❤️❤️🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

A GM that doesn’t have everyone available is a fool. The poll question was easy….Everyone is available for the right price. Rutschman included even though the price would be astronomical. Despite playing better we are still a last place club and several players away from being truly a contender
