He's had one play where it was a 60% chance that an outfielder should have caught the ball that he missed. Other than that, the next highest was 45%, one 40%, one 35% at the wall.

His jump numbers have not been good, and he's not extremely fast, but calling him awful is an over statement to me.

Can you tell me the plays where he's looked awful?

I can't name dates but I just remember several plays that he didn't get to balls I felt he should have, and looked awkward too.

Like I said, it was just the eye test.

Obviously he has impressed tonight!!

That's possible.  I think he slid on purpose so he wouldn't catch it with a full head of steam and then get clotheslined, but it just looked dumb because he slid well before the ball got there.

To be fair... that would have hit DJ Stewart between the eyes

Sometimes it takes guys a little bit to get used to the upper decks. I did a lot of research on all of the flyballs hit to him and like I said on a previous post, he only has one ball where the catch percentage was over 50% (60%) that he didn't catch.

He's not as bad as some seems to think, even though his jump numbers aren't great, I think they will improve.

Stowers looking like the guy I saw in the minors. Give that man playing time! No reason for him to not be playing everyday now.

Elias should want Stowers to play everyday to help evaluate if there is enough confidence to trade one of Mullins/Hays/Santander to open up a spot for Stowers.

Obviously even playing Stowers everyday to close out the season won't be a large enough of a sample size to determine if he can be an MLB starting outfielder. But it would be nice to get some idea of his capabilities hitting MLB pitching.
