Can we as fans start pushing Gunnar Henderson as a top 5 AL MVP vote? Ohtani, Seagar, Simeon, and Cole are the only 4 players with higher WAR than him in the AL. Those 2 defensive plays last night are MVP type plays. On a 1-5 night you impact the game in a major way.

I expect he’ll get some votes.  I don’t think fans can really affect it.

This is probably posted somewhere here, but...

MLB Rookie of the Year Odds 2023: Henderson, Carroll Cruise to Finish Line (sportsbookreview.com)

The lack of odds available at any best sports betting sites follows Baltimore Orioles third baseman Gunnar Henderson's continued dominance down the stretch. The future superstar will be the 2023 AL Rookie of the Year.

I don’t think we know that.  I do agree it’s unlikely.

I have my doubts as a Boras client Gunnar will sign an early extension, but I want the Orioles to make a good faith effort to at least negotiate a contract extension with Gunnar. It would buy a lot of goodwill with the fans if John Angelos could pull it off.

Nice. I booked way back when Corbin was +400 and put a play in on Volpe as AL ROY in a reverse psychology ploy. Glad my Jedi mind tricks worked lol.

Mike Elias would have to pull it off but JA would take credit for it.

Well yeah, but JA has to open up his wallet first. I'm sure Elias would make it a top priority after the season, but he can't do it with JA giving him a budget.

And it seems unlikely with all the crying we've heard JA about revenues and the Orioles not being a large market team.

We may never know if they have tried or will try.  Elias has made it extremely clear that he doesn’t intend to discuss this in public.  If they do a deal, we’ll know.  If they don’t, we won’t know if they tried or not, much less any specifics of what was offered.

I was mostly watching Brooks remembrances and didn't get to hear the announcer spin, but how was Clifford the Big Red Dog trying to steal home spun?

My bias....I've basically been watching the Acuna 40/70 speculation with wonder if before the tournament ATL is getting to let their superstar incur the injury risk associated with every SB attempt.

It didn't strike me as a smart play, but granted also I suppose the cost of doing business with young invincibles.

It appeared that Gunnar would have been safe but for the heads-up play by the Nat’s pitcher, Robert Garcia, as it looked like he quick-pitched after Gunnar broke for home.  The other thing to remember is that the O’s still need to close out the division and that run would have been helpful.

Worst part was the headfirst dive. Very lucky to avoid serious injury to the hands or head on that one. They should ban those at the plate to take away any incentive for players to try that.

I didn't love it but didn't hate it either. It's not like O'Hearn had a high probability of success there. Unfortunately Santander put us in a bad situation hitting into the double play.
