I think Westburg playing his way into a full time 3rd baseman has something to do with that too. If Westburg looked like a + defender at 2nd there would be a more obvious spot for Mayo. But even accounting for some weird plays that cost Westburg at 2nd he's still been grading below average there. -

It’s hard to judge relievers by overall numbers. If you’re thinking about calling them up then you need to look at what have you done lately. Baker, Vespi, Suarez, and Means, all looked much better than their AAA overall stat line. The thing I like about Hoffman is that he’s going multiple innings now. I’d protect him, and with the way we’re developing guys we won’t have to hit the waiver wire for depth unless we really like a player. -

I'm a no vote at the moment, but that mostly has to due with wanting to see how Scherzer looks over the next month. If his arm looks good then considering a deal is a must because Scherzer can be a pitcher you count on in the postseason and his price won't be as high as someone like Tarik Skubal. -
I would be absolutely shocked if Mayo had a huge learning curve at the MLB level. I said coming into this season that he was ahead of Holliday in being ready and he's ahead of him now. That's not a knock on Holliday, it's how good Mayo is right now. The Orioles are winning and Elias doesn't like to lose players, so guys like Urias and Hays are guy that could step into a Jimenez "pot hole" or be guy used in conjunction with prospects to net am impact reliever. Now, I know neither Urias or Hays have much trading value, but they could fill a short term need for someone. Elias may want Urias around to be a late inning defensive 3B if Mayo struggles at all and right now, Hays doesn't have much value other than left field against left-handed pitching, and Kjerstad hits left-handers pretty good. For now, Elias may be fine with keeping Mayo down unless an injury opens things up. It's sucks for him and the fans, but it makes sense from an org depth stand point. -

I don’t think he’s a throw in at all. I think he can be a central figure in a trade but I do think it would need to be a contender/contender type thing..like when I suggested the Pirates trade where him and Bednar were the key pieces. -

That's the crazy part even with Adley, Gunnar and Westburg doing their thing. The organization has barely scratched the surface when it comes to the player talent that will eventually be on the 26 man roster. This lineup might look like an all star team all on it's own by 2026.
