2023 3rd Round Pick (#86): Kiefer Lord - RHP - (Jr) Washington (WA)

Got bombed in his last 4 starts with very low K's numbers. He was pitching well before that so its possible theres an injury. 6.19 ERA in 2023 definitely a projection pick to take someone with an ERA that high in the 3rd round, but he does have an athletic looking delivery and if he throws 99 as a starter...thats impressive to me.

It's time to show what we can do on the developmental side with NCAA big time arms.  We've had success fixing pitchers before.

The Orioles clearly believe in their ability to develop pitching with the right attributes despite bad stats. Good stuff, bad ERA, but seems to be a guy who needs some professional development. Either way, I'm just happy to see them start taking some upside arms early in the draft.

And they don’t appear to really be reaching for these arms either. They are getting them in the areas of the draft that make sense.

The MLB coverage says he taught himself pitch mechanics his freshman year.  Sounds like he just needs some good coaching.
