Update on the lease negotiations

I saw that this whole Camden Crossing thing could involve the Kousouris family as well, who are related to the Angelos family.  Again, that was speculation but I know for a fact that Peter hired the dad to work for him With the Os for years, so it wouldn’t surprise me if their hands are in this too.

Again, as Pickles said..it’s money laundering.

Just follow the money. That’s all you have to do.

Of course it won't happen, but I kind of like the idea of MSA playing hardball at this point. John Angelos seems to enjoy these games of brinkmanship, so impose a dealine of Aug 31, or Sep 31 to sign a new lease or the deal will be tabled. Angelos would be then forced to sign a short term extension, and also miss out on that $600mm if he does not relent.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if Angelos wants more than $600 mm for this project, the state legislature will have to authorize it, right?   This is not something the Governor can do unilaterally.  The $600 mm was authorized by the legislature previously.

I have no problem with investing taxpayer money in projects that will provide economic benefits to the city of Baltimore and state of Maryland.  But it really feels like Angelos is trying to turn this into a giant boondoggle.

MLB will be on the phone to John and will tell him to take the 600M if push comes to shove.

John is trying to take advantage of the cultural trauma the area endured when the Colts left.

MLB is not the NFL.  He won't be allowed to leave in the dark of night.

But the Orioles will get the most public money for any baseball stadium ever besides Yankee Stadium. Braves and Rangers had more private money put in by the team and other entities

Oh be quiet! John Angelos is getting a raw deal, he deserves more money! He has to split his Dad's fortune three ways with his brother and mom and how can anyone be expected to live on that? Life is not fair!

I know the person from the BDC very well. Let's keep the people  who work on the development in Baltimore City in the dark while the two geniuses plan it out. BDC was very instrumental in having the arena in Baltimore City built will 99% private

A similar such venture already is being planned in South Baltimore. Called the Warner Street Entertainment District, the four-block stretch — already home to a Topgolf driving range — is lodged between M&T Bank Stadium and Horseshoe Casino Baltimore. City development officials said they hope it can spur more spending at the casino as well as deliver a boost to local tourism and add density

Colin Tarbert, president and CEO of the Baltimore Development Corp., said he was not aware of the plans or involved in discussions about the Orioles lease.

Alexandra Hughes — a spokesperson for P. David Bramble, managing partner of MCB Real Estate, which is the firm handling the ongoing redevelopment of Harborplace — said while the success of that project hinges on being easily connected with the stadium district, Bramble “has no pending proposals or deals with the Orioles or the Maryland Stadium Authority.”

I know they aren't moving. This will get done the moment the state gov stops trying to appease Angelos. Enough of the kid gloves from Wes Moore on this subject, publicly at least. These delays by Angelos have already cost the state a lot of money as interest rates have risen and significant portions of this $600mm will be financed. It's all a bunch of BS, and I for one am getting to the point I would rather see the Angelos family move the team, just so we can be done with these clowns. Camden wouldn't sit empty for long.

The Angelos family trying to pillage the fanbase and taxpayers even more? You don't say!

It's always about the money with these lowlifes. ALWAYS.

I really like when millionaires and politicians work together to fleece the most money out of taxpayers. It warms my soul.

If nothing else, I would like to see it written into every contract where public funding is used that the Team name and history stays with the City if they ever decide to leave,. Like the Cleveland Browns.... I don't want to see happen to the O's what happened to the Colts.

They aren't going anywhere despite me fully believing that if MLB wouldn't put roadblocks up it would have happened like  yesterday. Luckily there are adults at higher levels who are not insane like these people are.

Angelos has lobbyists in DC. He already has spoken to most of the Maryland delegation about this secret plan. The new owner of Harborplace has already had some meetings and trying to get input what people want to see happen to it. This Camden Crossing seems like a overpriced pipedream. BDC has no knowledge of what is going on.

Also a reminder of what could happen. The concert hall that was being built in the Warner Entertainment District has stopped construction and is on hold .We have been working on this for years and some of the challenges this Camden Crossing could face.

I think he sees it as a way to line his pockets and get a bunch of favors owed to him.

They want to model after a successful similar thing in Atlanta. There is also a somewhat similar area in DC.  Everyone is always looking to make more money but I doubt this is just a lining pockets situation especially since there will have to be bids for whatever work and the State will likely have to follow established guidelines for choosing between those bids.
