They could have done that, they chose not to because the optics of that statement weren't as pleasing.

Also, it’s possible John doesn’t understand the legalities involved since he is unable to pass the bar exam after multiple attempts.

Just read as part of the negotiations, the rights to name OPACY are included.

Alot of people including myself will be pissed if they sell off the name of Oriole Park to some company.

So he has been using that line since 2019. Well technically they have been working on a long term lease since 2018. But as someone said on here these things take time.

Yea, but if you get lucky you get a check from a place like Enron or FTX and after they go bankrupt you can just sell the rights again.

Just make sure you get paid in advance.

Yep as was California Memorial Stadium.

I heard a rumor that they were selling naming rights to a cookie company.  Oreo Park at Camden Yards.

They'll probably milk it the way e.g. Maryland did with their football field initially, and end up with a long, convoluted name..  Angelos Law Field at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

And they haven’t moved. This news seems to further the certainty they remain. Seems odd to criticize him for saying this.
