Dunn to the Nats

People who decide to go to Nats games now have something to watch for. A moon shot from the big donkey.

They will still lose' date=' and lose a bunch; it will just be a little bit more tolerable especially if you end up with a souvenir in right field.[/quote']

It continuously amuses me to see O's fans trash talk another team.

An outfield of Dunn/Willingham/Pena outfield might be fun in a Gerhart/Lynn/Sheets kind of way. If that was their lineup all year they might allow 100 triples.

I guess you could look at this as kind of a "Weekend at Bernies II" play on the 1971 Senators, with Dunn reprising the Frank Howard role. Ah, but can Austin Kearns ever raise his game to the level of Larry Biittner?

Well, it's not a Nats' board.

I don't mean that to sound crass, because it is not meant to. I am personally not talking trash, I just don't like the Nats. Some may not agree with me, but they are a rival to me.

It would not be any fun if we could not criticize other teams just because we have sucked for the last decade. The Nats have not exactly litl it up since their inception.

I don't know how much Swisher or Nady are making or how many years left on their contracts but wouldn't Luke be a little more appealing because he's cheaper and under contract for at least a few more years. I could see Luke fitting in Atlanta. I don't know anything about their farm system though. I would want to get a young 1B or middle infielder in the deal though if we did it.

I'm worried about the Skanks jumping in and sending Nady or Swisher.

The O's are not trading Luke Scott, IMO. Especially without seeing what they have in Pie. If Pie shows the promise we all hope then I can see the O's trading Scott at the deadline or next offseason but I just can't fathom them sending him anywhere right now.

The fact that there's any "rivalry" at all with them is just silly to me. And she has a point. Going to the "well, you guys suck" well for an O's fan is kinda ridiculous. I mean, they have had a winning season MUCH more recently than we have. Even if you hate them, pulling the "they suck at baseball" line is probably ill advised. ;)

So....no one seems upset that Dunn signed a relatively cheap 2/20 contract with the Nationals instead of the Orioles. And while it may not be a significant amount, Dunn's presence in the Nationals lineup is likely to draw away even more Orioles fans, especially those closer to DC.

While I agree that Dunn may not have been a perfect fit for the Orioles, he still would have looked great in the middle of the O's lineup....and bouncing balls off the Warehouse.

I would be shocked if more than a handful of people go to a Nats game instead of an O's game b/c of Adam Dunn.

Forgive me for being crass, but are they not STILL going to suck? We have some potential to be an exciting team this year. I don't view Dunn as a market draw changer...

What position would you have liked him to play for us?

The real issue seems to be that Dunn openly stated he did not want to sign somewhere to DH. He wanted to play the field. First base is not an option, hes horrible, and he has no place in our outfield.

Yeah not like he's a household name. Only reason I may end up going to more Nats games this year than O's is because I live closer to a metro station than I ever had. I am not too upset we didn't sign him. I wish though he would have been open to DHing. I think we would have made an effort at him if he had done that.
