Cease vs everyone else

I mean a guy came on here and got a lot of attention for saying Povich wouldn't be traded. Like, sure, he probably won't be. Because the vast majority of players won't be. Way to go out on a limb there.

I don’t think Husker is a BS artist but he certainly draws conclusions from third person hearsay.  He told us no way Povich would get traded and two weeks later said he might go in a Cease deal.  Lol

He also got insulted by being questioned on his information and said he wouldn’t post again until ST.  That didn’t stand the test of time.

I heard an insider say that you better be careful when squinting to see Spencer Strider in Dylan Cease, because if you look long enough you’ll start to see Dylan Bundy.

Really?   Bundy didn’t come close to Cease’s stuff once he got to the majors.   Maybe at Delmarva that first year before the arm started to go.

I think he said he now might be going in a different deal which based on his hints pointed at a deal with Houston, but yea I agree with what you are saying.

Most likely to get a rise out of people on a completely different message board.

I mean, I get your point, but if they're an "actual" insider then that seems like a pretty small payoff.

They want attention.

Folks have done far dumber.  Have you heard about the multiple leaks of classified information because of an online tank fighting game?

Thankfully I have not.

99% of these “insiders” are bogus.  Sometimes you get someone who actually has a piece of information and they like the attention so much they act like they are now an “insider” .   They like the spotlight and attention insider status brings you.   “Sir Loin, what are you hearing”.

Posters on our board used to eat that stuff up and not even question someone who was obviously feeding them BS.  The few people who questioned the veracity of the information would get attacked for scaring the insiders away.

Herein lies the problem, I think. I think there's very little reason to give credence to anything these people say, but by amplifing it/discussing it, it seems like we're playing right into their hands.

The one guy on their board runs a prospect site for the WS and has a lot of followers on twitter.

He recently posted about how the WS were about to sign an unknown lefty reliever…and then they did.  He seems to be in the know somehow.

Im not sure about anyone else and even their own board member posting here is denying the idea that 5 or more of those guys are actual insiders…but the one guy does seem legit.

That's a pretty vague prediction and seems more like a blind squirrel finding a nut to me.

The "insider" thing was kind of fun back in the day, but I think with the continued advent/use of social media, teams are far more tight-lipped now then they were even then.  And even then most of what we heard didn't come to fruition.   For all the rumors/inside info, etc, I think you can count on one hand the number that actually happened.

It's just not really worth following for me.  I don't really care if I get the news 2 hours after everyone else does haha.

This is kind of where I am. I think there's even less of a reason to believe them now then there was 10 years ago and even amplifing what they're saying seems a bit counterproductive.

And what did he have to gain by sharing that information? It seems like the only reason he'd create  an account and post someting like that on a random message board is to troll / stir the pot.

He may have sources or whatever, but I have to question what benefit Elias would see in telling a player or even someone outside of his main thinktank that a specific player is not being traded. There's no point in doing that. And if it wasn't Elias saying it originally, then why do we believe it? A GM like Elias would not shut doors like that arbitrarily, much less communicate to someone who knows the player.

In a way it is vague but it literally happened like a day or 2 later. It’s not something that was rumored or said anywhere else.

I think he’s probably a genuine person who started posting here because Povich was a Husker and he follows Huskers.  He thought he had some solid information but he got carried away, I think.   I think he took some idle talk and put too much stock in it and wanted to share it.

If you want to be a cynic, I guess I can see this point of view.

Also Cease hasn't had any injury issues.

The durability is something Elias and the boys love, which is part of the reason I believe that they are seriously trying to get him.
