We know Ohtani is not really concerned with money and this basically removes the cap hit from the deal.

Which is the BS part of the move. Which I’m sure some teams will not be pleased with. But kudos to dodgers to giving Yankees a new way to avoid the luxury tax.

Kind of makes sense.  Newsome won't have his tax consideration from Ohtani.

His $680 million paid out in the 10 years after his current 10 year contract.

If the total amount, properly discounted, is significantly higher than what the player could get on a “pay now” basis, I’m sure there are plenty of players who would agree to this.
