Nah, they probably figure they can include Burdick with Cease and that would get them Mayo over Kjerstad, plus several other throwins like Westburg and Beavers and Povich,

It was a bad omen for McKenna the first time they got him.  Even worse this time.

He had a poor spring training at the plate with the ChiSox getting just one hit in 15 PAs and slashing .071/.133/.071/.205. Saying that, he's right-handed hitting outfielder depth at AAA and security if McKenna is claimed if he's DFA'd.

Yeah. He’s not particularly exciting but he’s the best right handed OF for AAA depth with options right now. I was a little surprised they DFA’d him.

If Norby is decent in LF he’d be a better option if we need a RH corner OF at any point, but Burdick has CF ability and presumably much better defense.

Just guessing here.   With Burdick, Stowers, Johnson, Cowser, Kjerstad, (Haskins not ready?), all potential AAA outfielders, this makes me think Cowser has a chance to make the team as the 4th OF but Mateo is a CF option against LHP, and Burdick, who has options, can be shuttled whereas McKenna can't even if he did clear waivers and get to Norfolk the first time.   DFA of McKenna?

Burdick gave the Marlins McKenna like production in 2022 in a slightly different way.   More power but even more swing and miss and probably a shade less in the defense department.

This helps Cowser’s chances to make it over McKenna. We’ll see. I read somewhere that Elias was a straight shooter.
