Means still having set backs almost two years removed from surgery is really concerning.  Should we really plan to count on him?

Means has been in the league since 2018 and has never thrown more than 155 innings.  I don't think he should be relied on to get close to that number frankly.

And i like Means a lot and would love to be wrong.

We'd all love for Means to pitch and be effective but I wasn't counting on him anyway.  Any success there would seem like a bonus to me.  Bradish, though, is very different.

This is the Gunnar thread. Means discussion has it's own thread to keep them straight. thanks.

First few days of ST are always a "hold your breath" sort of deal.  Inevitably there are players that either have been dealing with an injury or get injured as they start to ramp up.  I think in this instance unfortunately the injured players just happen to be all really important ones.

I don't like hearing this news but if Iook at it from a silver lining perspective, it's more chances to see Jackson Holliday and Jordan Montgomery play some shortstop with Conner Norby Playing some 2nd Base.

We also might get a repeat of of the great April 2023 Jorge Mateo heater.

I meant to say Jordan Westburg. I had Montgomery on my mond because I really want to sign him now after reading the other threads about Means and Bradish.

Torn/pulled obliques SUUUUUCK. Feels like a sharp knife slicing your ribs. I went through it once or twice back in the day from swinging too hard trying to hit bp bombs during early cold practices (of course without stretching). And there's nothing you can do but wait or it will linger. Took me a solid 4 weeks the last time - but obviously I didn't have a pro medical staff.

I had a sneaking suspicion Means would not be 100% this year.  I've been waiting to see him pitch and see how he rebounds, but it looks like that will be a while.  The Basallo thing is a fairly typical growing body injury on a pro athlete.  The Gunnar situation is a bummer.  I wonder if he took a little too much time off after the long season and ROY victory parade circuit and just came back too fast and tweaked something.  Easy to do.  Maintaining their Ferrari engine bodies at optimal performance is a massive challenge.  I hope he takes the proper time to let it heal and then takes the proper time to build it back up so he comes back 100%.

Not worried about Gunnar, just bummed that I may not get to see him when I’m in Florida 3 weeks from now.

Agreed, I am not too worried about Gunnar. I will be there four weeks from now, an extra week later, and hope I get to see him grab a few in game AB’s at Ed Smith.

Good Lord what an awful start to the offseason. What the hell kind of offseason program did the Orioles have this offseason?

I'm not a big somebody needs to be fired person, but all of these injuries occurred due to an offseason work out design by the Orioles, they need to be "re-evaluated".

What in the world is happening
