Is the Orioles Record a Product of a Weak Schedule of Opponents?

The Orioles' opponents in games not against the Orioles have a win % of .547

The Orioles' opponents in games against the Orioles have a win % of .324

The Orioles' success to date is far more about the Orioles than their opponents.

The next 9 opponents have a combined win % of .457 (includes a double count of Toronto, against whom they will play 2 series.

It made me chuckle that the thread topic was a question, and your post was the answer…guess there is nothing else to talk about….

There be 2/3 teams that are on par with the Orioles in terms of the talent on their roster. (None are in the AL - Maybe TEX when their 2 pitchers return?)

Otherwise, no matter the opposition, they are the “weaker opponent”.

Gotta keep crushing here in May, because mid June to A-S break the opponents are (in consecutive order) ATL, PHI, @NYY, @HOU, CLE, TEX, @SEA, @OAK, CHC, NYY.  That’s quite the gauntlet.

I sure know other teams are not excited to play the Orioles anymore. The team is young and has depth in the upper minors to make deals for any needs at the trade deadline where I hope Elias will cement this team with some back of the bullpen help.

We also have a new owner who seems to love the team and is positioned financially to improve/maintain it in the offseason. 

 It's a real good time to be an Orioles fan for sure.

The early schedule looked weak going into the year, but teams like KC and Oakland have been better than expected.

The O’s have had the most difficult SOS in MLB so far; additionally it seems we are always facing the oppositions best starters. 

Fortunately, looks like that will finally change when we play the DBacks as Brandon Pfaadt and Ryne Nelson are lined up for games 1 & 2 but the O’s may face Zac Gallen in game 3.

I can’t wait to play the Braves and the Dodgers, but I actually worry a little bit about the Guardians , I think they are sneaking good this year… (but they will always be the Indians to me…Stupid statues…)

“Statues”?? - I don’t understand what that is or is in reference to.

Regarding your point about our opponents, it doesn’t matter to me, I don’t fear any. I think the Phillies are on a similar elite tier as the Braves and Dodgers. As it relates to the Guardians, other than closer where are they better than us? 

Ultimately though the regular season (though quite lengthy and certainly has so many variables) is “dress rehearsal” for the post season. If we win or lose series against the better/best teams (other than ourselves) it will not have any impact on what happens when/if we face them in October.

A Reds fan buddy wrote to me this morning.

Baltimore has lost three of eleven series this year: Oakland, Pittsburg, and Milwaukee. They won the other eight, with three sweeps, and in the Oakland series, one can argue that poor pen usage cost them a sweep.
