She said something to the affect that the batter had previously hit I o a DP and wouldn’t it be nice if he could do it again.

The problem with that was that there was a runner on 2nd base, not 1st.

I must admit, last night's game was the first I've watched with her calling PBP.  I thought she was pretty awful...

I acknowledge that this may be just a matter of personal taste, kind of like with music...

With respect, I think there are objective standards in addition to subjective lines, and she does not meet any of the objective ones.

From the comments here, it’s clear she doesn’t meet a lot of the subjective ones either.

I often listen to the other team’s feed. Some of them are also pretty bad, I think I recall the Twins team was pretty bad, the New York team is terrible, Texas, Oakland, Houston, and Seattle are excellent.

It's not just you. She was fine. Ben calls Irvin Irving, they all make mistakes. Is she the best announcer we have? Not even close. Is she as bad as people are making her out to be? Not even close. Hive mind is strong on this type of subjective topic.

The last time Irvin pitched, Ben did a better job of pronouncing his name correctly during the game. He must have practiced. But then after that game during the post-game show, he went back to calling him Irving multiple times.

Ahhh, the dulcet tones of Gary Thorne.... sigh... ;)

I always described Gary Thorne’s voice as “gravelly” but in a good way.

I would love to have heard him sing some Gordon Lightfoot, I bet he would’ve sounded fabulous.

All Gary needed to do was throw in a, "My GOODness! or any of his other Thornisms and it was pure gold.  Ben McDonald needs no help.  A couple unique "catch phrases" in the right places would make the others more accessible and likeable.  It takes some time to find your, "Ain't the beer cold?!!!!"  Chuck called an exceptional game.  The errors during the game become forgivable the more likeable you become.

She's doing good.  Not perfect, but give us something we can hold onto like the other classic announcers we've had.

I miss Mel Proctor and John Lowenstein

Old HTS was great.  And Tom Davis doing stories in the stands and just reaching over and grabbing a fan's nacho and dipping it in the cheese and eating it.

That was a good time crew.  Mel and John just snarked and laughed their way though the broadcast.  Story is Peter Angelos's wife thought John was uncouth so he had to go.
