Mountcastle is injured. Still can’t stay off the low and away slider. Folks were talking about getting rid of him last year for basically nothing. How bout Santander, Norby, Kremer, and Beavers/Bradfield? -
It was a philosophical mandate he handed down to his employees that they not invest in the international market at the time. He didn't believe in what he considered to be an exploitation of the families. So, as @Il BuonO points out, he meddled by simply preventing those who would normally want to from doing so. I don't think that's the same as saying he chose not to invest in it, from some kind of financial motivation. It was his personal beliefs imposed on his staff. And I'm not saying those beliefs were wrong or right, but in my opinion imposing them would definitely be considered meddling. -
They aren’t trading their #1 or #2 starter for a rental bat and a rookie who’s never done it before. Westburg, Mountcastle, and Kremer for Kirby. Seattle would at least have to think about that. -

Makes much more sense for them to trade prospects from their farm system instead of their best pitcher. I don't see why they would do this. -

I don't see the Mariners trading away from a position of strength during the season even if they need offense. The Mariners are going to try and trade prospects in season for a bat that can help. If they want to trade an established starter I'm sure Elias is willing to talk, but with the volume that pitchers get hurt now the Mariners aren't going to risk it. -

Mike Marshall is the guy I was thinking of. He advocated training with weighted balls and no inverted W in the pitching motion. Very interesting, but looks a little awkward. But as a kid, who saw guys doing the screwball - and Marshall was a screwball pitcher, when my arm hurt, I threw the screwball for relief... twisting the throwing hand in at/near release.
