It is on point Roch is leading the Terrin Vavra angle of all this.

Lololol. That is so very "Roch". When Roch said we're probably out on the exciting starters I figured we would end up with something like this. Appears Elias was looking more for years of control than elite-ness.

They both had their flaws and both weren't going to be regulars here, anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand what's going on here.

I liked them both and I hope they both do well in Miami.  Both have a lot of potential.

Right, like Ortiz, I'm glad they'll get a shot. We didn't lose all-star talent in this trade.

Wait, I don't think Tony said that Stowers would be ahead of Holliday, Basallo or Mayo. You surely read that wrong.

I’d find it if I knew how to do that lol

either way he said he would be top 5

This guy is a former first rounder. Former rookie of the year pitcher. Left hand pitcher in Birdland till 2027. Huge pick up. Last nine starts a little over 3 era. This is exactly what we needed and will be looked at as a huge move as we progress toward one of several World Series opportunities in the next ten years.

Makes me wonder if he's the Joe Saunders type role he had in '12, not flashy but stepped up when things were on the line in the postseason.

I think Rogers has had prior good performance, a good run over the past 9 starts, and is controllable. No real injury history. The O's staff may also see something that can help him improve.

He's not Skubal or Snell, but for this year, if we lose Grayson, or Burnes, or Eflin to injury, Rogers is next as #3 for me. Also, someone's gotta eat all these innings coming up, and it's not Povich.

We had to break the AAA logjam, and we took what we could get. If there was a better deal out there, I trust Elias to have taken it. I am coming around to this deal.

If there is a world where Rogers is your #3 you are going to be a bad baseball team.

We could have used those two prospects and acquired a good reliever. This is a nightmare scenario and another unforced error to go on top of last deadline.

I can see a scenario where one of those guys makes an all-star team as Miami's lone representative...but that's more because there's a silly rule in place.

Please look for the forest through the trees.  You all are looking at a small sampling of starts this year where he wasn’t good and extrapolating that out over his career.

And again, as I have talked about, there is something weird going on in Miami because all of their statcast numbers are ugly for the starters, even though they weren’t in the past

It's not just this year.   He wasn't exactly great in 2022 either.   2023 was a washout year due to injuries.

Seems like you are the one looking at the small recent sample size of 9 starts and considering it more important than the 39 previosu starts from Apr 2022 to June 2024.

I think the thing people are missing is that there were a bunch of teams on Rogers.

Just because everyone is doing something, doesn't make it good idea...

I don't think he's "a #3," just saying he is depth insurance. There may be a bigger deal still in the works, who knows?

I didn't peg you for the full blown sky is falling posts. "Nightmare scenario"? Really?

The nightmare scenario was losing Bradish and Felix and Means and Wells. Elias is patching together a rotation for the rest of this year AND 2025. And he's done it without using any of the top prospects or even Kjerstad.
