Hyde is a bad in-game manager. When you're winning 50 games a year, or 100, it's easy to overlook his bad decisions or forget them soon afterwards. When you're fighting for postseason position, or get to the postseason, his bad decisions get magnified and linger.

Compare this to how Detroit is playing now. They'd have 2 runs in this game through taking an extra base, taking a walk, stealing a base and advancing runners.

What does Salvy have to do with anything? There were two outs and a runner on 3rd. The choice was between Witt with one on or Pasquantino with two on.

You can’t make a two-out RISP IBB decision based on who’s in the hole. Not in the 6th inning of a 0-0 game.
