Tejada deal up to Angelos

The players we might receive back from the Mets and Rockies may have an impact on who we are targeting from LAA. If Shealy or Nady are coming back then no need for Kotchman. I think Rivera is the 2nd name from their current 25

Good, Im sick and tired of getting fleeced, lets fleece someone and change the face and the outlook of this organization. The thought that Tejada's freed up salary might be used to go hard after a top FA is really intriguing and gives some real hope for next year.

GET IT DONE!!!

Can someone find that list of potential FA's? It's not overly promising unless they want Carlos Lee.

I'd say the package would have to be Santana, Figgins, Aybar and Saunders or possibly Mathis. And I have little doubt Angelos will nix it. He probably doesn't know any of these players from a hole in the ground and he doesn't trust Duquette, Flanagan or any GM he's ever had.

I was looking over Aybar's stats and he is better than I thought. He needs a little more plate discipline, but he doesn't strike out much, hits for a high average, and has developing power. We should push to get him included.

He's really not THAT good...he's good, but a .750-.800 OPS player who has 51 steals and was caught 36 times, should not be a focal point of a trade for someone of Miggy's stature. (even though I think Migs is slipping)

The Great And Powerful ROCH~! checks in:

More Tejada rumors

Something for you to chew on before bed:

I would stop taking the Astros calls.

People around here who previously were convinced that the Orioles wouldn't trade Miguel Tejada by the non-waiver deadline are beginning to waver, mostly because of the Angels, who appear willing to deal Ervin Santana despite Bartolo Colon's health issues.

Maybe I'm just stubborn, but I still want either Brandon Wood or Howie Kendrick included in any deal. The Orioles don't have to trade Tejada. They have him locked up for three more years, and his contract now looks like a bargain. He's their top run producer. He's a guy you still can build around.

I'd still be surprised if the Angels parted with Santana. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Wood. Kendrick. Get one of them here and I'm on board.

I agree. The Os hold the cards. The Angels are desperate. How bad do they want it? For Santana and Wood or Kendrick I'd give the greenlight. And then expand from there if they want with other players going back and forth.

My bet is that Kendrick is off the table by now.

Santana, Wood, Aybar, Saunders/Arredondo I think is the BEST possible deal we could hope for and is the one I push hardest for, unless we want to be really greedy and see if we can squeeze Adenhart in place of Saunders/Arredondo.

It sounds like an either/or deal with Wood or Aybar. O's want Wood, the power prospect as they should, while the Angels are pushing Aybar. Sounds like we could get back another prospect or two if we take Aybar, but I still say go for the better player in Wood!

I like that deal with Adenhart a lot.

The Orioles aren't the only team with a good hand though. As long as Soriano is available then there will be someone else for the Angels to turn to.

If Soriano goes tomorrow or Sunday and it's not to the Angels? Then we're in a position to really fleece them.

Wow, didn't realize he got caught THAT much. You'd think they had hired Treblehorn as their base-running coach.

2 pitchers and 2 SS's?

For some reason I see Juan Rivera coming back here since the O's have said they want a corner OF'er.

Santana Rivera Wood Adenhart for Tejada and Conine?

I just don't know who would play SS for the rest of the year? Fahey? or would they make us take OCab back?

Again...getting Wood, and a 1b, is worth giving up Benson/Liz/Olson. If they wanted Loewen I think I'd be mighty inclined to say yes...but it would take a few minutes to ponder.

If we're trading our best player and our top prospect, we better be getting back a freakin' fortune.

Why would we include any of our prospects in a deal with Tejada.

If it comes down to numbers, give me 2-1 Santana/Wood for Tejada. Hell I'll thrown in Conine too. Although I think thats better for us than them.

    • Good info. I missed that on the broadcast. I don’t think we see Holliday until July or when his new super two date would be. Mid July/August/September is still plenty of time to evaluate him at the mlb level for the playoffs.  Mayo will probably get a look before Holliday is back. I think we’re going to see Mateo play more. If that faceplants then Mayo could be up before the June super two date.
    • He's probably next in line for a promotion to Bowie. I'd like to see him a little more power from him for his size, but he's doing well overall.
    • I’m not regretting the trade, but .266/.385/.406 with awesome defense would look pretty good at 2B for us, where we’re hitting .164/.216/.240.
    • Yup. They still have a dominant pen even after the Soto trade. Our pen is more Hope and Pray they don’t blow the lead. We’ve been effective, but not fear inducing arms like prior years.
    • Wait... you're telling me the Nats charge $24 for a single craft beer?  A few years ago I was in LA and I got a Dodger dog and a beer (I forget what kind) and it was $20 and I thought that was extortionist. I was kind of shocked when the Angels were charging $14 for a beer, and FedEx was long infamous for $11 cans of Miller Light. $24 should make the Nats owners cower in shame. That's basically like a soda machine where a Dr. Pepper is $11. They might as well have some kind of huge goon standing next to the concessions yelling out "hey yous, the beers are $24. If you don't like it, get the hell out of my stadium!" I have heard that Atlanta is great for food prices. The Mercedes dome... thing... has the cheapest food and drink in MLS. I suppose the Braves are copying them. Good for them. Aside from Atlanta, this feeds into the narrative that American sports are for upper and upper-middle-class people. Others need not come. Which is fine in a vacuum, fine for some kind of economics class experiment, fine for owners whose primary goal is short-term profits. But what happens down the road when the fanbase doesn't really include people who're not making six figures? Or since nearly all US sports are doing this, that a significant percentage of the population just doesn't regularly go to live sports because it's outrageously expensive? Like I mentioned, me, the wife, and two kids going to DC United on Saturday and the total bill will probably be $350, and that's with discounted tickets and if I can park at Ft. McNair next to the stadium for free.
    • Who gets DFA’d today?  Baumann or Ramirez? Baumann went 2 IP and Ramirez only 1 IP. Baumann also entered the game earlier. Read into that what you will.  I think Ramirez has the best pitch with his Sweeper out of the two.  I’d prefer to see Baumann get DFA’d.
    • The Yankees pen is legit and has been for the last few years.  They have done a great job at building bullpens and targeting high quality arms. Holmes is basically a right handed Britton. He’s nasty.
