Austin Hays off to a good start at Aberdeen

I'm going to try to temper my enthusiasm. But Hays was probably my favorite pick of the draft. I couldn't believe he fell into our laps in the 3rd round. Pretty near a 5 tool player. Hope his plate discipline and contact abilities transfer to the pro level.

A COF with all the goods. Sounds too good to be true. Hope this kid is the real deal.

Yeah I'm just going to go pull a Rip Van Winkle and come back in Sept and see how he did. I don't think I can bridle my enthusiasm about this guy.

Outfielder Austin Hays, taken by the Orioles earlier this month in the third round of the draft, has missed a few Aberdeen games with a sprained wrist. He got hurt sliding head first into a base. The injury does not appear to be serious and X-rays were negative. Hays made a strong debut, going 5-for-8 with a double and triple in his first two IronBirds games.

Hays also had an OF assist throwing out a runner at home!
