Oh yeah. I was lucky enough to be there for Mel Mo's final game as an Oriole for the season finale in 2009. If there was any doubt as to whether or not Oriole fans at-large loved and appreciated Mel Mo for his Orioles tenure, that doubt was completely erased eight then and there with an exclamation point when he was taken out of the game for a pinch-hitter in the 6th inning. It was a great, great moment in an otherwise abysmal Orioles season.

Hey, me too. I was disappointed when he came out so early, but it made sense when everyone got to give him the ovation he deserved.

I would love to see him as a coach

I don't...not for awhile at least. A losing team full of youngsters doesn't need a Prima Donna who demanded to know his off days. I can't fathom him teaching a team game. He would be a great coach on a team full of established players but we are years away from that.

Do you think Brooks woul dcome out to OPACY, where he seldom goes, because of the animosity of PA, to honor a guy who is "a Prima Donna who demanded to know his off days". Or maybe you think Brooks is a dottering old fool. :rolleyestf:

Thank you. I know I'm in the minority here and people question my sources but I feel like people want to induct MelMo into the O's HOF because we got him for nothing. He had THREE good years and was below average the rest of the time. Obviously people are tired of me saying he was a bad clubhouse presence and don't believe that his agent would tell a good friend that he was... but that's what happened. I grew up with Lon Babby and have profound respect for him and his stance on being an agent (not charging them a percentage of their contracts but rather just billing them for hourly work). But Melvin was bad for our team. No question about it. I think the fact that he had quintuples made him "a good guy" in the Baltimore eyes. And people respect him for always wanting to be an Oriole. But when you have that kind of family you really can't uproot them to Arizona or whatever. Good for Melvin for actually liking our team while no one wanted to touch us with a ten foot pole. I respect that. But that doesn't qualify him as an O's HOFer. He's no Mark Belanger. End of discussion.

It ain't like there is a high bar for entrance as it is. They seem determined to induct someone every year and there isn't a lot premier talent left to choose from. I do think that Raffy and Mike should go in first.

You don't have to be Mark Belanger to be in the Orioles HOF. The bar has been set pretty low, and Mora's well over that line.
