What do they do with used baseballs?

So what does mlb do with all the baseballs that are in the dirt that they throw aside? I heard the other day that an average game uses around $1100 worth of baseballs. Just curious what they do since they are perfectly fine other than a dirt scuff.

When a baseball gets to be a certain age it mates with other baseballs to produce new ones.

Some, if they are still in good condition, might be used again (like when the umpire puts a ball back in his bag). Mostly batting practice, though, or the bullpen, or other non-game events on the field.

I thought they might get reused in some form but wasn't sure. They could pass them onto little league games

A friend of mine works for the Nats front office at their spring complex/GCL/Ext Spring. He coaches my son and we use nothing but ML balls in practice. He also told me they use nearly $500,000.00 worth of baseballs in spring training alone. Another thing I did not know, game balls are different than practice balls...a different quality level.
