Steve Melewski ‏

The Orioles signed Univ of Md. RHP Sander Beck. He was non-drafted this year. Taken by O's in round 33 last year. 6-2, 2.87 for Terps.

Undrafted guys come out of the top 10 pool?

Also

The Orioles have agreed to terms with their 19th-round pick, LHP Josh Hader from Old Mill HS in AA County. Went 10-0, 0.39 this year.

Per Connolly on Twitter, Wager is signed for $125,000 and Hutter for $10,000. Rutledge has also come to terms, but no financial details yet.

Right, that is why it won't affect this bonus pool.

Just saying you could sign a half dozen slugs for 100K each, have them pocket 5-10K for the effort and kick the surplus to an agent representing the guy you really want.

Not worth the risk of getting caught imo but just looking for loopholes.

I would have set it up that any undrafted players had to come out of the top 10 round money.

I was going to say no way Hutter signs for 10K then I saw this:

Jim Callis ‏

Have to create cap space! @elsrbueno: Mid-round bonus $$ are fascinating. #RedSox have signed 3 in top 10 rds for $10k or LESS.

I am definitely far from an expert here-but one problem I could forsee with this loophole is the income tax ramifications for the players that would be used in this situation.

In years past-Hutter probably would have gotten $1K to sign. Teams play hardball with seniors-that is why it is rarely worth it for a junior college player to return for his senior year if he is offered a reasonable bonus to sign.

Obviously the monies needed to cover taxation would come out of the agents share. Just spitballing not suggesting any team could or should try such an approach.
