I would think that after the Oriole's surprisingly successful season, they would be less inclined to again dip into the Rule 5 pool like they did last year with Ryan Flaherty. Expectations were much, much lower then, but now the Orioles have to be considered a contending team. As such, the need is for solid veteran bench players. But illogical as it may seem, Flaherty might have played himself into possible consideration as one of those bench players.
