You're working off a very small historical sample of Chen with 100 pitches. He's thrown 100, 102, 107 and 119 this month, to about a 2.00 ERA for the month and a 3-1 record. Maybe he's just not as frail as you remember, because he blew a game in April to the Red Sox, or something. he's thrown 100 pitches or more 6 times all season. I'll say it again, I think because the opponent is Houston, he was allowed to go this deep. If it werent the worst hitting team in all of baseball, he would have been out sooner.

I disagree. Look at his numbers after the 6th inning. Plus, there was no reason to push him past the 7th. Through the 7th, fine, but no reason at all with a fresh pen to start the 8th. We'll just have to agree to disagree. It was poor bullpen management that worked. I'm glad it did but it was another risk for no reason.
