I'm pretty sure that's because literally no one outside of the M's FO thought that deal was anything other than hideous. Not even the oft-irrational "MOAR MONEY" crowd on OH would've advocated trying to match that deal. Think about THAT.

I wouldn't mind Floyd as an accompanying starter acquisition. It would be a failure to see him as the best starter added though.
