Nope. The leadoff walk to a LH hitter caused all of the trouble. Gotta disagree with you there. From the radio announcer, it sounded like it might not have been a DP ball either. Sure, the error added to the problem but you can't walk leadoff hitters late in a game. Or anytime for that matter.

Here's a wild theory: both the walk AND the error were bad. For reasons that are unique to each play.

If Schoop had booted a ball with no one on base, that still would have been bad. If Britton had walked a guy who was subsequently erased by a DP, that still would have been bad.
