Machado is not going to be happy

Adam Jones also wants to play SS. Does that mean he is not loyal to the Orioles? lol

I'm not gonna start badmouthing Manny based on what somebody says HE feels, but the fact of the matter is, with JJ at Short and Manny at third this is a better team. And when Buck decides that is no longer the case, then I'll trust Buck to make the decisions for the team. Manny is a player, and a darn good one, but like Weams said, he needs to concentrate on staying healthy and playing the best he can and forget about SS until Buck and the O's decide he needs to move.

There is a very good possibility that he never plays shortstop over the course of his career.

And there's a vert good chance he goes down as one of the best to play the position. Especially with the glove.

Manny wiil never get the chance to make your premise come true. Not to say he would not have been good. It's over.

By the way, assuming Manny can stay healthy, I truly believe he's on the verge of superstardom. I mean, next season. His offense was really coming on strong before his injury, even though his overall numbers were just slightly improved from last season. OPS by month this year: .556 in May (no spring training), .774 in June, .921 in July, .940 in August. Gotta like that trend line! I think he's in for a 100 point OPS jump next year if healthy from day one of spring training, and 25+ homers is highly likely (he had 12 in 83 games this year despite his slow start). Add that to his crazy good defense and you've got a true MVP candidate in 2015, IMO.

The statements made in the original post are very overblown. His teammates did not throw him under the bus. A gold and platinum glove winner will not be "very upset" at the Hardy signing. End of story. Nothing to see here.

Overblown?

Or

Made up?

Manny is now a third baseman. If he stays healthy, he will be the best in baseball. The dollars will pretty much take care of themselves if he focuses on playing as hard as he can. He knows that and will do just that.
And he is an excellent 3rd baseman. I don't think he's worried about that. Hopefully, he'll work hard to rehab and will be back next year.

I agree. Hopefully the knees are fixed for good.

If he can stay healthy. There are so many athletes that say once their wheels are gone it wasn't the same. I hope he can rehab and come back as good as ever but, two major knee operations in two years makes me wonder.

Was in agreement with the made up part of your statement about the OP. Not condoning his actions and "throwing him under the bus" are 2 totally different things.

Oh I had you, DES.

I do find it weird/cool/funny that OH posts show up in Google searches though. In this case I'd bet "manny"+"chad"+"bus"+"fiction"+" tin foil" ought to cover it.

    • 68% Strike Rate (sorry if this upsets anyone, lol). Needed 105 pitches pitches to get through 5 innings though.
    • On the one hand, the streak is cool, and I really like looking back at the lineups the O's were running out there the last time they were swept in the regular season just to see how far they've come as an organization. On the other hand, every time the streak is brought up it just reminds me of the ALDS whether or not it counts, and you can't brag about the streak around fans of other teams or they'll throw the ALDS in your face. It would be like if it got constantly brought up that Ubaldo Jimenez never gave up a walkoff home run.* *in the regular season
    • Some posters/fans want to get rid of good players like O’Hearn and Mountcastle because they believe the younger players will eventually be better. In the scenario that you laid out, where Santander’s spot in RF is the only place available next season, I’m not sure that Kjerstad is the better player than Mayo. Mayo is a good bit younger and Kjerstad is not good with the glove. At least Mayo has a very good arm, so he may not be worse than Kjerstad in RF. Additionally, Mayo is more of an asset by helping to balance out the lineup due to his RHH.
    • Yeah, he did.  But if it's not one thing with him, it's another.
    • The move I like for Nats games is to park at the Greenbelt Metro, take the metro in.  Then either take the metro back to Greenbelt after the game or just get an uber/lyft.  Traffic on 295 is literally hell on earth.
    • Sorry for Frobby and his experience. My friend had a near identical one minus losing the cell phone part driving from Rockville last year for the O’s at nats game. I told him to take the metro and he ended up driving and let’s just say with the traffic and the garage which took about 40 mins to park when he was a block away and some of the other issues at the park left such a horrible taste he’s vowed to never go back. I used to live in Bethesda and now Old Town (Alexandria) so I’ve always taken the metro into nats or Hoyas games but that’s all dropped down considerably thanks to the Hoyas being terrible and constant issues with the metro which seems to never be resolved. If you haven’t already I would jump on your iCloud on your computer and see if anything was backed up without you noticing. Good luck
    • I don't really know. I'd have to do some research to see if walk rates track with the league rates. Maybe he gets called up and sees his free passes go down by 44%? All I really know is there are a lot of walks in the minors today.
